
Pakistans, Nigerians to be deported from Germany, Austria June 7, 14
Baring any last minute change in plans, more Nigerian migrants in German and Austria will be deported on June 14, 2022, a tweet by stop deportation said.
Aside from Nigerians, the tweet said their would be collective deportation to Pakistan on June 7.
A batch of 26 people was deported back to Nigeria two weeks ago and taken to a hotel along the Airport Road, Lagos, for a week-long quarantine programme.
The exercise was reportedly marred by protests by the deportees over what they described brazen exploitation and deceit by the hotel authorities.
Purchase of mobile phone SIM pack and National Identity Number registration that ordinary cost about #3,000 was said to have been done for the stranded deportees at an outrageous sum of N15,000. Some of the deportees, it was learnt were however able to get it done for between #8,000 and #12000..
[email protected] learnt that the deportees embarked on violent protest on the day of their departure from the hotel when no government official visited to give them financial assistance earlier promised them by the hotel authorities.
Numerous as government agencies working in the area of migration is,none of them deems it fit to be available to receive and give dignified return to the deportees.
It is hoped that the attitude will change on June 14 when new batch of deportees will arrive. It is also hoped that proper arrangement will be made to reintegrate the deportees.
